Dear Data People,

We can’t control the weather nor the political landscape so let’s stay ‘local’ and celebrate the fact that, whichever way we look at it, January heralds a new year and the potential for new beginnings and growth.

This month we remind you of a few ideas we’ve had to inspire your PROFESSIONAL RESOLUTIONS, and we re-visit last year’s members survey which will steer our ambitious goals for this year and impact much of the behind the scenes work we do here at DAMA UK to support our industry and uphold professional standards for all data practitioners.

And let’s not forget, 2024 is a leap year. You can view that as simply an extra day or the opportunity to make a ‘leap’ of your own!

Happy New Year everyone 🔔

DAMA UK in 2024

There are many clichés about data being the new ‘oil’ or new ‘gold’ but, putting those aside, there is little doubt that data IS playing an increasingly important role across just about every business and service sector as well as in our personal lives. Technology continues to fuel both demand and capability to leverage data to the superpower it has the potential to be, and our professional world continues to evolve at pace.

In recognition of this we bolstered our brilliant Committee significantly to support our ability to meet our objectives and allow us to deliver even more to the DAMA UK community and indeed the data community at large.

So what strategic priorities do we have for this year?

Well, they’re driving by suggestions coming out of our Member Survey.

So right up there amongst our priorities will be:

  • More peer-to-peer learning, networking and troubleshooting
  • More real-world challenges, success-stories and applications of    DMBoK best practice
  • More high value content including blogs and case studies
  • Oh, and we also have a significant birthday to celebrate this year, but more on that later…

In the meantime, if you’d like to learn more about what shapes our priorities, read our 2023 Members Survey.
