Dear Data People,
In many countries, May 1st is celebrated as International Workers' Day commemorating the labour movement and the economic and social achievements of workers. It’s a day to honour the contributions of workers and to promote fair labour practices.
Of course May Day is also a traditional celebration of spring and fertility. It often involves festivities such as dancing around the maypole, crowning the May Queen, and various other community celebrations.
This May, we’re celebrating all you data professionals who work so hard and sit behind pretty much everything that keeps our maypoles and the modern world spinning!

FREE IN PERSON EVENT AT THE PRINCIPALITY BUILDING SOCIETY HEAD OFFICE, CARDIFF
As part of the Data Management Association of the UK (DAMA UK)’s popular series of regional events we are delighted to announce that our next event will be held in partnership with the Principality Building Society and Welsh Water. This whole day conference will take place at the Principality’s Head Office in central Cardiff on Thursday 20 June 2024 from 9:30 to 4pm.
Please join us for this second DAMA meet up in Wales to meet with your data peers to explore the future of data management in Wales, along with a chance to discuss the opportunities & challenges of making Wales a digital, data-driven society. We have an exciting agenda, with speakers from the Principality Building Society, Welsh Water, Welsh Government, Cardiff University’s Data Science Academy, the Intellectual Property Office, Data Orchard, Natural Resources Wales and DAMA UK.
The event will address a broad range of data management topics including:
Data management & data governance
The strategy for a digital Wales
Wales environment information portal
Unlocking water data potential
Transforming the Intellectual Property Office through data
Assessing the data maturity of organisations
Using data science to derive new insights
These events are really popular and successful. There will be an opportunity to network and share ideas about data management with attendees and lunch and refreshments will be provided free of charge.
